Independence Day 2024 marked ten years to the day since I left my corporate publishing job and embarked on a career as a freelance writer and editor. Since then, I’ve experienced the most rewarding creative journey of my life and now I’m celebrating my anniversary! As a sign of my immense gratitude – because I couldn’t have got here without the support of you, my dear readers – I’ve chosen to mark this special anniversary in my life with a couple of opportunities that I hope might interest people.
 

BOOKS GIVEAWAY FOR SCHOOLS

I have FIVE free copies of the young readers’ edition of The Radium Girls to give away to five schools (one copy per winning school). (If you’re not a teacher, but know one, please tell them about this opportunity!) Winners will be picked at random on 4 November 2024. 

 

CHANCE TO WIN A FREE EVENT 
FOR YOUR SCHOOL

I can also offer one school a free virtual presentation on either of my US history books (something I usually charge for). The proposed event would run for an hour with a 45-min presentation from me (on the subject of the book plus my research for it) and a 15-min Q&A. Schools can enter by emailing me with the subject line ‘Event Competition’. Please say in the email which book you’re interested in having me talk about and, in a single paragraph, what you think your school/students would get out of it. I will pick one winner on 4 November 2024 and communicate with them directly to schedule the event at a mutually convenient time in the 2024/25 academic year.
